Jordan’s favorite phrase these days is “open it.” He pretty much says it in relation to everything he sees, even if it doesn’t open. In general he is much more interested in seeing the inside of things and has had very little interest in building. But now he finally has taken some interest in putting things together. He makes a really funny face when he exerts himself trying to push things together:
He has also started FINALLY understanding the concept of sharing.:
Jordan loves singing these days. Often when he wakes up we hear him singing to himself in his crib. Sometimes he even hits the high notes on key. We overhear Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle, Open Shut Them, a bunch of songs from his music class and randomly, “Trouble” by Taylor Swift. It’s hard to catch on video but here is a sample of him singing along with a song that Tammy sings (I think she modified from a commercial jingle). Lately, he likes to speed up singing the lines to show off that he knows them. And he loves to hear “good job” or “good singing” when he’s done. Sometimes, like here, he congratulates himself.
Another big milestone in Jordan’s life came over the weekend. Unfortunately, it came with a lot of tears 🙁
His hair kept falling in his eyes, so it was finally time to get it done. We asked the barber to cut just enough to clean it up without changing the look too much. I think he succeeded. They gave us a cute diploma with a photo and a lock of his hair.
Even though Jordan hated it while his hair was getting cut (as you can see below), he reminisced about it for the next 48 hours.

We had a fun excursion to the LA Zoo also last weekend to see elephants, giraffes, tigers, chimps, and a few other faves. I didn’t get a lot of photos, but here is one.
We also had a great time hanging out with Tammy”s cousins Eytan and Reva and their 9-month old, Zakai. The swing was fun until Jordan took a big fall. Luckily the fall didnt phase him too much even though it looked like an awkward fall. Here they are before the fall:
Jordan has had a Barack Obama action figure since he was born so we’ve heard him say his name, but I have never seen him make the connection to the real guy until we watched the State of the Union speech the other night. He really seems to be listening to every word.
Jordan has been obsessed with mail trucks (“Mailman trucks”) for a long time, so we finally decided to get him one to play with. Here he is getting to see it for the first time:
Jordan LOVED hanging out with Poppy and Nanny this weekend. All we heard the day they left was “thank you, Nanny” about a hundred times.
The weekend started with a beautiful rainbow over the Hollywood sign:
On Saturday night we all went out to Daddy’s favorite spot for Teppan-yaki, and he had a blast!
Jordan is always up for a game of peek-a-boo. Lately he like to wrap himself up in the curtains to hide:
On Sunday we took a nice long walk with Jordan in the park. He had some trouble finding his balance in the tall grass:
The weekend ended with a big smile:
Here a some other recent videos
Trying out a magnet:
He’s still obsessed with holding lotion and shampoo bottles. He has actually gotten more obsessed with holding these products than playing with trucks. At the end of this video, you can also hear him singing Old MacDonald in his fast way.
Even though I blocked off some of the kitchen drawers with a bungee chord, that hasn’t stopped his fascination with the other drawers
Here is is hanging out in his inflatable duck, which used to serve as his bath.
You can see him listening to the music, and then he stops when the song ends and lets us know whether he liked it, and then eagerly awaits the next song. He does this a lot.
(Sorry about the pop up ad on this video. Price of having a song playing in the background)
In a few more days, Jordan gets to see Grandma and Grandpa! How lucky he is to have so many loving grandparents.
Jordan loves looking at himself in the mirror, so it makes perfect sense that he also likes to look at himself on the camera phone. I switched my phone to front facing and snapped a bunch of happy shots on Superbowl Sunday
Tamar had an appointment near my office this morning, so Jordan commuted in with me and hung out at my office for an hour or so. Once he warmed up to everybody, he had a blast exploring. Here he is sitting at Daddy’s (messy) desk getting ready to win his first appeal:
Here are a couple of share-worthy videos from earlier in the week:
