Halloween and other stuff with Jordan

Everyone pitched in to help keep Jordan occupied during the time in the hospital and the first week at home, for which we are very grateful! Jordan didn’t miss any school (which he loves and where he gets glowing reports), and he spent a lot of time at the pumpkin patch around the corner from our house

I took him to Jamba Juice

Took him on a lot of car rides

And his first trip to the library, where we checked out … what else … fire truck books

The best recent Jordan highlight was Halloween where he dressed up as a fireman, and we went trick or treating nearby our hood

first he wanted to show off his costume to Eli

Then off we went

In the end, he got a ton of candy. But since he’s never really seen candy, he picked the pretzels.

Tamar’s and Gary’s birthdays

These are going back a few weeks, but we both had great birthday celebrations. Tamar’s at Santa Monica beach, and me at Yamato (Teppen Yaki)

We went out to dinner the night of Tamar’s birthday and Jordan didn’t make it easy. He didn’t feel like sitting that night, even after we gave him trains to play with at the table. But we still had a nice celebration.

First day of school

It’s hard to believe Jordan started school. 3 days a week for 3 hours, he will be at VBS. The first week, the Moms stay, but next week he is on his own!

This is always his expression after we take pictures now. He cant wait to “see it” (i.e., the picture we just took)

The report was good so far. Apparently, the mac n cheese Mommy made him was the highlight.

He was the last one eating.

And then he left day 1 in style:

Wish us all good luck next week when Mommy leaves him (she’ll be in the next room at first)!

Toy cars or real cars, it really doesn’t matter. This kid can spend hours studying their wheels. He knows every car brand based on someone he knows who drives one. (I.e., Amy’s car) (our neighbor drives a Blazer so when he sees one somewhere else he yells it out.) Pretty much anytime he sees a Prius he says “Daddy’s car” (not Poppy’s car anymore!), and when he sees a Lexus, it’s “Daddy’s old car.” If you’d like to spend 2 minutes witnessing the love (obsession?), click here:

Trying to stay cool

After a “mild” summer we’ve had about a week of 100-ish heat in the valley. The city hasn’t been much better. I think the heat came because too many people talked openly about what a mild summer it’s been. So we escaped to Marina Del Rey over the weekend to stay near the water where it was about 20 degrees cooler (we even had to put sweatshirts on). We rode the water bus, which is a great $1 boat ride that tours the whole Bay. Jordan mostly wanted to get back to see more of the Lighthouse on the shore.

the love affair continues…

Lucky for Jordan they will be be in pre-school together when mommies are not around starting next week.

jordan & daddy time

One of Jordan’s favorite things to do is hang out in daddy’s car, even if it is parked in the driveway. Often after dinner I take him out to my car, open the sunroof, and listen to music. He never gets tired of it. (and neither do I when I see how happy it makes him)

Usually when he starts acting like a DJ, he demands the music to be louder. This time he thought it was too loud.

I was having lots of fun with the front facing camera this week. Jordan loves looking at himself while I snap pictures and videos
